Anodyne Balsam

Description

Anodyne Balsam (Balsam Anodyn, balsamum anodynum), labelled by Sir Stuart Threipland in his medicine chest as ‘Bal Anodyn’. A preparation of soft soap, opium powder, camphor, oil of rosemary and rectified spirits. Anodyne Balsam was applied externally to relieve pain.
